We had expected Emmanuel Adebayor to be a big mover on deadline day but West Ham were unable to secure either him or the centre-back they were linked with. Meanwhile panic seemed to reign at QPR, who tried to send Mauro Zarate back to West Ham to get hold of Matt Jarvis.
Loanees from big clubs also completed permanent deals. Ryan Bertrand will have the chance to build on his excellent loan spell at Southampton after signing a three-and-a-half year deal whilst Wilfried Zaha is back at Crystal Palace, ending a spell at Manchester United that could be generously described as indifferent.
