Goals from Mohamed Salah and Xherdan Shaqiri sent Liverpool top of the Premier League table as Fulham and Slavisa Jokanovic were left to rue a controversial 2-0 defeat at Anfield.
Few if any expected a Fulham side who had conceded 29 goals before Sunday's game to offer much in the way of resistance to Liverpool, but the visitors held firm on Merseyside and thought they had gone ahead after 41 minutes.
Aleksandar Mitrovic rose highest to head home shortly before the break, but referee Paul Tierney ruled the effort out for offside. Fulham were slow to react as Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson quickly fed Trent Alexander-Arnold, whose long pass to Salah caught out the Fulham back line and allowed the Egyptian to finish from close range.
Salah's goal came just 14 seconds after Mitrovic's header was ruled out, and Fulham will feel all the more aggrieved as replays showed that their goal should have stood as Mitrovic was onside.
That setback seemed to sap Fulham of their confidence and energy, and Shaqiri made the points safe with a smart close-range volley eight minutes after half-time, and only a number of good saves from Sergio Rico kept the scoreline down.
The result sends Liverpool top of the table - until Manchester City's derby against United later on Sunday, at least - while six straight League defeats leave Fulham bottom and Jokanovic's job security in the balance.
