Liverpool offered triple boost as Virgil van Dijk leads Covid returnees ahead of Leicester clash

Jonathan Gorrie24 December 2021

Liverpool have welcomed Virgil van Dijk, Fabinho and Curtis Jones back into their squad following their isolation periods.

The trio tested positive for Covid-19 prior to the recent win over Newcastle United and duly missed the draw with Tottenham last weekend.

While Liverpool’s game with Leeds United on Boxing Day has been postponed, Jurgen Klopp will be boosted by their returns ahead of their trip to Leicester City on December 28th as he attempts to catch Manchester City at the top of the Premier League.

Thiago Alcantara, however, remains unlikely to feature in that game given he is still in isolation.

With the visit of Leeds postponed until further notice, Andy Robertson will be suspended when Liverpool take to the King Power early next week following his red card away at Spurs.

Clearly, Robertson’s absence is a blow but taking close to a full-strength side to Leicester will be music to Klopp’s ears after a difficult time of things in the last two fixtures in terms of key players missing.
