'It's usually not that easy!' - Jurgen Klopp surprised by Liverpool's 5-0 Champions League thrashing of Porto

Jurgen Klopp admitted even he was surprised by Liverpool's 5-0 humiliation of Porto in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie, saying: "It's not usually that easy."

Liverpool were in scintillating form as they scored five goals without reply as ‘fab three’ Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohammed Salah shone for the visitors.

Mane will fly with the rest of the squad to their warm weather training camp with the match ball in his hand luggage as he tore a sorry Porto side apart, playing the starring role with a hat-trick in a dazzling Liverpool performance.

Klopp spoke of his delight after his players made their 5-0 victory in the Estadio Do Dragao look simple. telling reporters: "In this game it was possible to move them around, usually it’s not that easy but it was hard work tonight.

“In the end the boys enjoyed the work and that’s the most important thing.

"At half-time I said, 'the situation of the first half even when we were 2-0 up was when Mo Salah won the ball back in the centre of the park'. That's what you need in a game like this, a competition like this.

"I saw a lot of fantastic performances tonight, a result like this is only possible if they are all spot on.

"I think [Andrew] Robertson played an outstanding game, finally he found his crosses, I thought they were in Scotland or somewhere which was good to see.

"Of course Sadio [Mane] is man of the match but Roberto Firmino's work rate was outstanding again."

Regarding Liverpool's warm-weather trip to Marbella, Klopp assured supporters that his players would not be taking their eye off the ball.

"If you think it's about alcohol, they don't drink," he added. "It's another generation.

"They can stay a little bit longer awake of course but they are tired I think so they will have a nice sleep."
