Liverpool are due to submit a planning application before the start of the season to redvelop Anfield at a cost of £150million.

The club need to buy around 90 houses surrounding Anfield so they can be demolished to allow for the expanded ground.

Liverpool City Council and social housing developer Your Housing Group have led talks with residents and it is understood the club now own almost all those houses and they are hopeful of completing the purchases within the next couple of months.

Once that has been achieved, they will seek permission for the redevelopment which will see the Main Stand and Anfield Road end expanded to increase the ground’s capacity to around 60,000.
