Wanted: Wilfried Bony

Swansea boss Garry Monk has brushed off reports Wilfried Bony is in line for a move to Liverpool.

The Reds remain in the market for a striker after an £8.5million move for Loic Remy fell through last month.

Brendan Rodgers has been linked with a move for Bony and Swans chairman Huw Jenkins revealed last week the Ivorian would be sold if the deal is right.

But Garry Monk has warned the club will not be forced into the sale of any player and insists Bony - who has also been linked with Tottenham - is committed to the Swansea cause.

“It’s exactly the same as it was at the start of the summer. Speculation will always be speculation,” Monk told talkSPORT.

“The good thing for us is that we’re in control of everything, no player will leave unless we decide it and we think it’s good for the club.

“And from Wilfried’s performances throughout our pre-season campaign I think you can see exactly how committed he is to Swansea City.”
