Liverpool XI vs Chelsea: No Salah - Starting lineup, confirmed team news, injury latest for Premier League

Confirmed team news as Jurgen Klopp makes a number of big calls
Marc Mayo4 April 2023

Darwin Nunez is recalled to the Liverpool starting lineup to face Chelsea tonight, but Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk both drop out.

This trip to Stamford Bridge demands a quick turnaround for the Reds after the weekend defeat at Manchester City, and Jurgen Klopp has made some surprise changes. Salah is named on the bench at Stamford Bridge, while Van Dijk misses out on the squad entirely due to illness.

Nunez returns having been benched at City, while Joe Gomez and Kostas Tsimikas come in for Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson at full-back.

Roberto Firmino also starts, along with Curtis Jones in midfield. The match comes too soon for Luis Diaz, who is nearing a return from a lengthy spell out but that does not come tonight.

Thiago Alcantara is back in full training but also misses out with a hip injury. Liverpool are still without Stefan Bajcetic, Calvin Ramsay and Naby Keita.

Liverpool XI: Alisson, Gomez, Matip, Konate, Tsimikas, Fabinho, Henderson, Jones, Jota, Nunez, Firmino.

Subs: Kelleher, Milner, Salah, Gakpo, Robertson, Carvalho, Arthur, Phillips, Alexander-Arnold.
