Luis Suarez is ready to play for Liverpool . . . and Wayne Rooney's back for United

Centre of a storm: Liverpool's Luis Suarez
11 April 2012

Luis Suarez is set to return to the Liverpool starting line-up at Manchester City tonight after serving a one-match ban.

The Uruguay striker missed the League win over Newcastle four days ago after he was banned for directing an obscene gesture towards Fulham fans during last month's loss at Craven Cottage.

But with Kenny Dalglish's side expecting a tougher challenge from the Premier League leaders, the 24-year-old, who has scored seven goals this season, will be welcomed back in attack.

He is available for selection with his club yet to decide whether to appeal an impending eight-match ban for being found guilty of racially abusing Manchester United defender Patrice Evra.

Meanwhile, Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed Wayne Rooney is also available for tomorrow's match against Newcastle despite the England striker being fined and dropped by United over the weekend. Rooney was disciplined after reportedly performing badly in training following a night out.

But, after seeing his side lose 3-2 to Blackburn without Rooney, United boss Ferguson said: "Rooney will be available. You've got to be fit to play, you can't miss training sessions."
