Footballers are banned from gambling on their own teams, but Lukas Podolski has violated that rule by betting Borussia Dortmund defender Kevin Grosskreutz a kebab that the Gunners will come out on top in Germany tonight.

Arsenal face Dortmund at the Westfalenstadion this evening, and the loser of the match will have to eat the kebab in the German city of Cologne.

The origins of the bet lie in the fact that the German right back was charged with assault in May for throwing a kebab into the face of a Cologne fan, who was giving him stick.

Tonight’s clash is the fifth time the sides have met in four seasons, with the Gunners winning two of the last four, Dortmund winning one, and the other match ending all square.

Last year Arsenal won 1-0 in Dortmund through an Aaron Ramsey header.

For the sake of his health if nothing else, Podolski will be hoping his side can repeat the trick in Germany tonight.
