Manchester City have avoided Premier League rivals Chelsea and Tottenham in the EFL Cup draw, and will instead face Burton Albion in the semi-finals.

EFL Cup holders City secured progress to the last four of the competition after a nervy penalty shootout against Leicester City on Tuesday night.

Oleksandr Zincheko scored to win the shoot-out 3-1 after the match finished 1-1, sending Man City into the last four.

Arijanet Muric saved from James Maddison and Caglar Soyuncu, while Christian Fuchs also missed for Leicester.

It spared Raheem Sterling's blushes after the forward chipped his spot-kick over the bar.

Kevin De Bruyne, on his first start for seven weeks after two knee injuries, opened the scoring at the King Power Stadium.

City were in command for long spells, but Marc Albrighton's 73rd-minute leveller sent the tie to penalties.

City could have faced Chelsea or Spurs in the semis, but instead drew Burton, who are 15th in League One.

The first legs will be played in the week commencing January 7 and the second legs in week beginning January 21.
