Caglar Soyuncu scored a vital winner for Leicester City at Manchester United to boost their Champions League hopes and confirm Man City as Premier League champions in the process.

Mason Greenwood cancelled out Luke Thomas’ opener to leave the scores level at half-time, but a Soyuncu header after the break ensured Brndan Rodgers’ Foxes took a huge step towards Champions League qualification in a blow for West Ham, Liverpool and Tottenham.

While United have already guaranteed a top-four finish, the result saw Man City crowned champions on a frustrating day for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who must now turn his attentions to facing Liverpool on Thursday night.

With this being the second League game of three in the space of five days for United, Solskjaer made a point by opting for 10 changes to his starting lineup.

The likes of Donny van de Beek, Juan Mata and Nemanja Matic were afforded rare starts, with promising youngsters Anthony Elanga and Amad Diallo supporting Greenwood in attack.

With Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester still chasing Champions League qualification, it was no surprise to see a strong Foxes XI make a bright start at the Theatre of Dreams.

Youri Tielemans raced onto a good through-ball down the right flank, and his cross to the back post was expertly volleyed into the opposite top corner by Thomas with a wonderfully controlled finish.

With the rain pouring down, Leicester looked like they were going to take full control of the game - but United were soon level.

Amad did well to win a 50/50 battle off a long ball from Mata and fed Greenwood. The forward still had a lot of work to do, but easily beat Caglar Soyunco on the overlap before finishing clinically across Kasper Schmeichel, who could have done better.

There was nothing to separate the two sides at the interval, but Leicester grew into the game after the break as they had more to lose from a draw.

David de Gea saved well from Kelechi Iheanacho at close range, but United went to sleep off a corner not long after to allow Soyuncu to power home a header from close range.

The result delivered a huge boost to Leicester’s top four hopes, and also confimed Man City as champions.
