Kevin De Bruyne hit a stunning rocket as newly-crowned champions Manchester City brushed aside Swansea 5-0 to move 16 points clear of their nearest rivals in the Premier League.

The Belgium international's brilliant goal was a thumping effort from outside the area which arrowed into the corner to deliver a timely reminder of his world-class ability after a stellar campaign.

De Bruyne will go toe-to-toe with Liverpool's Mohamed Salah for the PFA Player of the Year gong at Sunday evening's awards ceremony and Guardiola believes his player should pip Salah to the prize.

"When analysing nine months for my point of view there is no player better than him," the City boss said.

"Maybe there's guys out there with numbers better than him, but...he was the best. In the end, in the summer time, we'll be at home as champions."

On his goal, the Belgian added: "I don't score a lot of goals in the box, I get more opportunities to shoot from far away. You know you have a clean strike, you feel it."
