The January transfer window enters its third week but still the Premier League’s biggest sides are yet to make their moves.

Manchester United are, as ever, present and correct in the rumour mill with today’s gossip suggesting Louis van Gaal might finally be about to address that ponderous midfield.

Admittedly he did spend the best part of £60 million on Memphis Depay, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin, but it doesn’t seem to have paid off in the slightest.

It’s little surprise then that he has found himself linked with Saul Niguez, who is reportedly also a target for Arsenal.

Arsene Wenger may be about to sign Mohamed Elneny but, with Mikel Arteta, Mathieu Flamini and Tomas Rosicky set to depart in the summer, there may soon be space for more midfielders at the Emirates.
