Louis van Gaal has claimed that Manchester United care more about money than football because they are a "commercial" club.

Van Gaal spent two years coaching the Red Devils from 2014 to 2016, in which time he won the FA Cup, after having managed the Netherlands national team and, before that, Bayern Munich.

Despite his FA Cup victory at Wembley in 2016, Van Gaal was sacked by United ahead of Jose Mourinho's arrival at the club.

And two years on from his departure from Old Trafford, Van Gaal has admitted he does not "love" United like he does Bayern Munich because of the differences in the way both clubs are run.

Speaking to Sport Bild, Van Gaal said: "Manchester United, who I last coached, is a commercial club.

"Totally different to Bayern. The bosses, like Karl Heinz Rummenigge and Uli Hoeness, are former players who know what they are talking about.

"Football is the most important thing, not money like it is now at United. That's why I love Bayern."
