Manchester United or Liverpool would end their respective waits for the Premier League title if they signed N'Golo Kante.

That is the view of former United loanee Garth Crooks, who believes the Frenchman is "back to his masterful self" following an impressive display against Champions League finalists Liverpool on Sunday.

Kante, who won the title with Leicester in 2016 before repeating the feat at Stamford Bridge a year later, impressed in midfield as Chelsea beat the Reds 1-0 to keep alive their Champions League hopes.

Olivier Giroud headed the decisive goal, but Kante shielded the Chelsea defence from Liverpool's menacing trio of forwards to help preserve the home side's clean sheet.

"He has been so good at what he does I've almost run out of things to say about this player," Crooks told the BBC, naming Kante in his Team of the Week.

"N'Golo Kante was back to his masterful self against the Champions League finalists.

"If there was an interception to be made, he made it. However, what I have noticed is the growth in confidence in his overall game. He seldom gives the ball away and his passes always get to where they are intended.

After Chelsea's top-four fate is determined in the coming week, Kante will turn his attention to the FA Cup Final before looking ahead to the World Cup with France in the summer.

Should the Frenchman impress in Russia, his stock will rise further and Crooks believes the midfielder could make the difference to Chelsea's rivals.

The 60-year-old added added: "Kante has won two Premier League titles with two different clubs and I dare say if he moved to Manchester United or Liverpool, the title would move there too."
