Premier League leaders Leicester City shocked Manchester City with a stunning 3-1 win at Etihad Stadium on Saturday to pull away from Arsenal and Tottenham in the title race.

Leicester headed into the game three points ahead of second-placed City, and went in front in the third minute as Robert Huth found space to tap home Riyad Mahrez's free kick from close range.

Claudio Ranieri's Foxes continued to threaten throughout the first half, with Jamie Vardy and Mahrez exposing a lack of pace and organisation in their hosts' defence.

City were denied what they believed to be a penalty as Christian Fuchs fouled Pablo Zabaleta on the edge of the box, but referee Anthony Taylor deemed the challenge to be outside the area.

Leicester held on until half-time as Manuel Pellegrini's side went looking for an equaliser, but the visitors soon found themselves two up after the break.

Mahrez capitalised on a poor challenge from Zabaleta to bear down on goal, and turned Martin Demichelis before whipping a superb shot past Joe Hart three minutes after the restart.

Pellegrini made drastic changes with Yaya Toure and Fabian Delph taken off for Fernando and young striker Kelechi Iheanacho after 50 minutes, but worse was to come for City.

The hosts again failed to deal with a Leicester set piece, and Fuchs assisted Huth for his second of the game with a towering header which looped over Hart on the hour.

Sergio Aguero netted late on with a glancing header three minutes from time and then went close a minute later, but it was not enough as Leicester held on for a memorable win.

The victory sends Ranieri's men six points clear of City, handing Tottenham the chance to go second ahead of their match against Watford later on Saturday.
