Marco Silva is prepared to accept Watford’s decision not to let him join Everton and will put ambitions for a move on hold.

As Standard Sport reported last month, Watford are determined to keep Silva and are not interested in any approach from another club.

Everton, who have also made enquiries for former England coach Sam Allardyce and Burnley manager Sean Dyche, had a query over Silva’s availability rejected by the Watford hierarchy on Monday.

Silva, whose first job in English football was a four-month stint at Hull City in the second half of last season, signed a two-year contract at Vicarage Road in the summer.

The Portuguese does not have a release clause and while Everton could offer compensation, Watford believe it is the end of the matter.

Silva has led Watford to ninth place in the Premier League.
