Marouane Chamakh: I'm off if I don't start playing

Ultimatum: Marouane Chamakh has hinted he may leave Arsenal if he doesn't start playing regularly
11 April 2012

Marouane Chamakh today hinted he will leave Arsenal next summer if he does not feature for the club on a more regular basis.

The Morocco international has started just one Premier League game this season and scored only once in 12 appearances in all competitions as he finds himself as the back-up to Robin van Persie, who is enjoying the best goalscoring form of his career.

Van Persie scored a superb volleyed winner as the Gunners celebrated their 125th anniversary with a 1-0 win against Everton on Saturday.

Chamakh was once again an unused substitute and the striker revealed he favours a return to Bordeaux - the club he left on a free transfer in May 2010 to join Arsenal - if his situation does not improve in the second half of the campaign.

He told French radio: "I am 27 and I need to play. I cannot stay like this forever.

"I won't leave in January but I will take an important decision in June. I was surprised by the offers I got last summer but my priority was to stay at Arsenal.

"A return to France? If so, it will be to Bordeaux."
