Chelsea U18s captain Mason Mount has signed a new four-year contract at Stamford Bridge before joining Vitesse on loan.

The 18-year-old signed professional terms on his 17th birthday last year before agreeing to improved terms in April. Mount has now recommitted once more though no extension has been added.

Mount will now spend the 2017-18 season in the Eredivisie after a stellar season for club and county.

The Academy Player of the Year guided the young Blues side to FA Youth Cup success last season, before impressing on the international scene as England U19s won the European Championships this summer.

"Vitesse feels like me the next step in my career," Mount told the Dutch club's website.

"Vitesse gave me a good feeling when discussing [the move]. I also talked to other players like Lewis Baker and Mukhtar Ali, who were all positive about the club."

A midfielder who can play central or down either flank, Mount assisted both goals as England beat Portugal in the final for a famous tournament triumph.

Mount, who joined the Blues as a six-year-old, now embarks on his first loan spell away from the club and follows a well-trodden path to the Eredivisie feeder club.

Charlie Colkett and Fankaty Dabo, who Mount knows from Chelsea's youth setup, have already made the journey to Vitesse for the upcoming campaign.
