Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino vowed to keep chasing Chelsea in search for a first ever Premier League crown.

Spurs kept their faint title hopes alive thanks to Harry Kane's second-half penalty, moving three points clear of third-placed Arsenal in the process.

After finishing behind the Gunners last season following a final-day collapse, Pochettino called on his players to keep their belief as they look to go at least one better this term.

"I am not frustrated [by Chelsea's run]," he told BT Sports.

"We need to understand that from September they have only lost once, against us. That speaks well about us. At the same time we have to believe. We need to believe always."

He added: "I think in the last few games the opponents have played very deep and closed the gaps, difficult to break down. It's important the control we showed today and the chances we created.

"I don't think they had a shot on target which is also important. I think we showed we were much better and deserved the win.

"When you don't kill the game you leave it open. In the last second you can concede, that's the Premier League. Thankfully it didn't and we are happy."

Next up for Spurs is fourth-placed Liverpool, before the cup triple-header against Gent in the Europa League sandwiched around a trip to Fulham in the FA Cup.

Kane added: "We created the chances we just weren't finishing them. We are delighted with the win. No game is easy in the Premier League. We'll take 1-0.

"We found it difficult midweek at Sunderland and knew it would be similar today. I thought we did better today. We should have won 2-0 or 3-0 but 1-0 is enough and we recover for next week.

"We have a strong squad, stronger than last season. We can rotate players and keep them fresh. We want to win trophies. Hopefully we can."
