Mauricio Pochettino: Tottenham are Premier League champions - for transfer rumours

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino says no decisions on any of his players' futures will be made until the end of the season.

The majority of Spurs' key first-team players are tied down to long-term contracts following a major recruitment drive earlier during the campaign.

But Toby Alderweireld is understood to be in the process of negotiating a new deal while it is believed that Spurs are willing to listen to offers for Kyle Walker, who is aware he could double his £70,000-a-week salary at Manchester City.

The north Londoners remain in the title race with just four games left to play and Pochettino is adamant Spurs would already have been crowned champions if the Premier League was decided by transfer rumours.

"Of course, no decisions until the end of the season about anything," Pochettino told his pre-match news conference when asked whether all future talks had been put on hold until after Tottenham's final game of the season at Hull.

"I understand all the rumours and accept the business, but please a little bit of care about the things.

"Tottenham is a trending topic in all the rumours, we are champions. In the last two seasons we are more than first.

"All the players, the board, the staff, we’re all focused to give our best and finish in best way.

"There's no point today speaking about things that can only affect the team in a negative way," the Argentine coach added.

Spurs will cut Chelsea's lead at the top of the table to just one point if they are victorious at the London Stadium on Friday night.

Such a slender margin may play on the Blues' minds when they kick-off against Middlesbrough on Monday and Pochettino is determined to keep up the pressure on Antonio Conte's men.

"I think it’s important for us, of course, and for the Premier League to put pressure, to keep interest until the end of the season.

"It's a great opportunity for us to try to reduce the gap and put a little bit of pressure on them.

"We will play another derby against West Ham and it will be very, very tough game," he added.
