Mauricio Pochettino urges Tottenham players to 'cross the limit' during Premier League run-in

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has urged his players "to cross the limit" as they attempt to push Chelsea all the way in the Premier League title race.

Spurs are seven points adrift of their London rivals with just seven games left to play but are refusing to concede defeat to Antonio Conte's side.

The north Londoners found themselves in a similar position last season when they led the chasing pack behind pacesetters Leicester City during the home straight.

Pochettino's side collapsed before eventually finishing third a year ago but the Argentine coach is hopeful his players can maintain their mental strength this time around.

"It’s true that all can happen in football but we must keep that mentality that we are showing," Pochettino told his pre-match press conference.

"We must show that we’ve improved a lot from last season and it’s a big opportunity because we arrive in a similar position to last season, fighting for the Premier League with a similar gap too.

"But now it’s [about trying] to cross that limit, to push ourselves a little bit more and trying to go further than last season.”

Meanwhile, Tottenham's title hopes may be slender but they are on course to secure a superior league finish to Arsenal for the first time since 1995.

Arsene Wenger's side are 14 points adrift of their rivals but Pochettino is adamant his players are "fighting for bigger things" than outdoing the Gunners.
