Marseille striker Michy Batshuayi remains West Ham’s top summer target as Slaven Bilic looks to strengthen his squad for next season.

Bilic has been promised £20million to spend on a striker by club co-chairman David Sullivan and the 22-year-old Belgian international is top of the West Ham manager’s wanted list.

Batshuayi has also been linked with Tottenham and there has been speculation that initial talks have taken place between the clubs.

Should Spurs complete the signing of Saido Berahino from West Brom in the summer however, then that may leave the way clear for West Ham to go for Batshuayi, who began his senior career at Standard Liege before moving to Marseille in 2014.

What could also be in West Ham’s favour is that Dimitri Payet, who joined the club from Marseille last summer, is a close friend of Batshuayi and the pair linked well together before Payet left.

West Ham are also said to be interested in Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who could leave the Emirates in the summer.

The 22-year-old Portsmouth-born midfielder joined Arsenal from Southampton in a £15m deal in 2011 but has failed to make the expected progress and could move on.
