Millwall striker Lee Gregory has warned play-off semi-final opponents Scunthorpe that they are in for a daunting experience when they visit The Den for Thursday’s first leg.

Scunthorpe are already aware of the challenging nature of a visit to south London after suffering a 3-1 defeat at The Den last month.

The third-placed side in League One are hardly the only side to have fallen to the Lions this season, with Premier League sides Bournemouth, Watford and champions Leicester bearing the scars from elimination at the hands of Neil Harris’ side at The Den during Millwall’s run to the FA Cup sixth round earlier this year.

“We know we can beat any team at The Den,” Gregory told the club website. “We have beaten three Premier League teams and it's a difficult place for our opposition to visit.

“Hopefully we can do the job at home and follow it up at their place on Sunday.”

The Lions head into the first leg on a high as they look to go one better than last season, when they were defeated 3-1 by Barnsley at Wembley.

Harris’ men, ravaged by a sickness bug, seemed to have thrown their playoff berth away as they gave away a 3-1 lead at Bristol Rovers in the final game of the season.

With five minutes of normal time remaining Southend, who won 1-0 at Bury, seemed bound for the playoffs but Shaun Hutchinson’s late header secured a 4-3 win at the Memorial Stadium.

“It was nuts, absolutely crazy,” Gregory said of the win.

“The lads have come in absolutely buzzing this week. To make it through in the fashion that we did, winning 4-3 away from home is a fantastic feeling and we can't wait for Thursday.

“To be honest, I thought we may have blown our chance when Bristol Rovers scored a late equaliser, but we've proved that we can dig deep and get a late winner when it matters.”

Gregory, scorer of two of Millwall’s four goals, is one of those players struggling with illness but the scorer of goals in both legs of last year’s play-off semi-final win over Bradford says he is “feeling good” and eager to fire his side back to Wembley.
