After a season in which they have managed just 61 league goals from 37 games it was already apparent that Arsenal could be in need of an upgrade up top.

Last summer’s pursuit of Karim Benzema rarely got started and left Arsenal without time to find an improvement on Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott. But with that pair having combined for just 10 goals since the start of 2016, the need for attacking improvements has become all the more apparent.
Alvaro Morata, Gonzalo Higuain and Mauro Icardi have all been scouted by the Gunners but they are far from the only players that Arsenal have been passing their eyes over.
