Arsenal interim boss Freddie Ljungberg joked his suit was “at the dry cleaners” for his first game in charge against Norwich after being called out for his choice of dugout attire by Paul Scholes.

Ljungberg is preparing for his first game in charge at the Emirates Stadium on Thursday when Arsenal host Brighton.

Bizarrely, there will be attention on what the Swede is wearing after former Manchester United midfielder Scholes questioned why Ljungberg didn’t wear a suit against Norwich on Sunday.

“It was so quick, the suit was at the dry cleaners so I couldn’t get it ready,” joked Ljungberg.

“No, I have seen the Premier League and seen coaches in a tracksuit, coaches with a suit, and I have seen coaches with a sweater, so I will decide on a matchday what I will use.

“We will see if I have one or not, we haven’t had one fitted yet with the club suit but I can’t see that is a discussion but I will make sure you know what I wear.”

While Ljungberg is in charge for the moment, Arsenal are on the hunt for a permanent successor.

And when asked if he would be happy going back to his old role as part of the backroom staff if someone came in, Ljungberg said: “Yeah of course.

“I work for the club and what the club wants me to do, that's where I'm going to be. Of course I'm very proud to have this opportunity but the future will tell what happens.”
