New Arsenal signing Takuma Asano has vowed to bring aggression to the Emirates as he awaits final confirmation of his move to England.

Though Arsenal have agreed a deal in principle with Sanfrecce Hiroshima the 21-year-old must still pass a medical and receive international clearance, a potential pitfall for a player that has just five caps for Japan.

Takuma has won the rookie of the year award in the J League and reportedly attracted interest from Bundesliga side Augsburg, convincing Arsenal to move swiftly for a player expected to be “one for the future” by Arsene Wenger.

His Japanese predecessors Junichi Inamoto and Ryo Miyaichi endured disappointing spells at Arsenal but Takuma, who has acknowledged he is likely to be sent out on loan on his arrival in England, is keen to make an impact on the Premier League.

"I am glad that I can have a challenge overseas, which I have always wanted," said Asano.

"I want to play aggressively. I want to score many goals on the pitch, performing with my quick moves and eagerness."

Arsenal fans will likely get their first site of Takuma at this summer’s Olympic games, where he is part of Japan’s 18-man squad.
