Newly crowned Premier League champions Manchester City will be treated to a guard of honour as they take on Newcastle this evening.

Manchester United’s loss to Leicester finally secured the inevitable after a few falters from Pep Guardiola’s side, and the main focus for the boys in light blue will now be the upcoming Champions League Final and completing another treble, having also already won the EFL Cup.

But do not expect the players’ performances to drop, with a record-breaking 12th away victory on the spin up for grabs and Guardiola’s team selection for the Portugal showdown still undecided.

Date, time and venue

Newcastle vs Manchester City is scheduled for an 8pm BST kick-off on Friday, May 14, 2021.

The match will be held behind closed doors at St James’ Park.

Team news

Newcastle are without the suspended Fabian Schar and the injured Callum Wilson, the latter ruled out for the final three games of the season due to a hamstring problem.

For City, John Stones is available again after his own suspension and could line up alongside Nathan Ake. Kevin De Bruyne remains out with his fitness problems and will not be risked with more important tests to come.

Prediction: Newcastle 0-2 Man City

The title is wrapped up, the pressure if off - for now - and I expect the City players to put on a show as they battle for a place in the Champions League Final starting lineup.

Newcastle have ended the season in good fettle but City, whatever the XI, will have enough to win comfortably as the title party continues.
