While it is difficult to put a positive spin on this season, David Moyes at least saw his side overcome Everton in a six-pointer last time out in the Premier League before they beat Derby in the FA Cup.
That, at least, offered some sign of progress.
Indeed, a trip to Newcastle is a daunting prospect these days but perhaps the Hammers play Eddie Howe’s side at a good time.
Certainly, it’ll be hard to follow up their Carabao Cup semi-final win over Southampton only a few days ago, so maybe West Ham can take advantage.
