The fall-out from England's chastening Euro 2016 exit is well underway.

Fans are fuming and pundits are perplexed as the nation begins to discuss why the Three Lions have come up short at a major international tournament once again.

FA chairman Greg Dyke has apologised for the side's early exit, admitting the players simply "froze" against Iceland in a chastening round of 16 defeat.

A three-man panel consisting of Martin Glenn, Dan Ashworth and David Gill has been charged with the task of finding the right coach to take the nation forward, despite the former openly admitting he is not a "football expert."

The task is certainly not expected to be a straightforward one and doubts remain as to whether a winning formula will ever be found.

England's 2018 World Cup qualifying campaign beings against Slovakia in September so time is on the FA's side but plenty of questions need to be answered.

The bookies have installed Gareth Southgate as the frontrunner for the highly-coveted position while Glenn Hoddle is also a strong candidate, despite spending a decade out of management since he left Wolves in 2006.
