Northampton sealed promotion to League One with a 4-0 win against Exeter in the League Two play-off final at Wembley.
Keith Curle's men join Swindon, Crewe and Plymouth, who all secured automatic promotion to League One, in what was the first competitive game ever to be played at England's national stadium.
Defeat for Exeter meant they failed to escape League Two for the third time since 2017, losing out to both Blackpool and Coventry.
It was Exeter who finished higher in the league in fourth place, but seventh-placed Northampton prevailed, with form largely irrelevant following the enforced break.
Northampton took the lead just 11 minutes into the match. Exeter's Nigel Atangana only partially cleared from a long-throw, with Ryan Watson collecting the ball on the edge of the area, before sending a deflected strike into the bottom corner.
The Cobblers doubled their lead on 31 minutes through on-loan West Brom striker Callum Morton.
The Englishman - who sent Northampton to the final with two second-leg goals against Cheltenham - knocked it in from close range after a Jordan Turnball flick on.
Any hopes of a second-half Exeter comeback were diminished when full-back Dean Moxey was shown a straight red for a reckless challenge with 30 minutes to go.
Northampton put the game beyond any doubt with 10 minutes, remaining, Sam Hoskings cooley slotting home after some excellent play down the right by Mark Marshall.
And with Exeter down and out, Northampton added a fourth with just one minute of normal time remaining. Andy Williams finished past a helpless Jon Maxted just seconds after coming on as a substitute.
