Crystal Palace are in talks with former Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo over the vacant position at Selhurst Park.

Portuguese boss Nuno left Molinuex after four years in charge by "mutual consent" at the end of the Premier League season having finished 13th, one place above Crystal Palace.

The Eagles are on the hunt for a new manager after Roy Hodgson stepped down following the end of his Palace contract, and the club have also considered moves for former Chelsea boss Frank Lampard and Swansea's Steve Cooper.

Eddie Howe expressed interest in the role earlier in proceedings, but is not thought to be a leading candidate.

Talks have been held with Nuno over the past few days, though nothing has been agreed so far.

Whoever comes in as Hodgson's successor, Palace chiefs are aiming for a quick appointment.

A sizeable chunk of the squad are all out of contract in south London but the Eagles are waiting until the successful candidate is in place as manager before making a decision on their futures, while a number of agents are holding off on any transfer business until an appointment has been made.
