Chelsea midfielder Oscar has denied he and his teammate Diego Costa were involved in a training ground altercation on Thursday, and labelled the report as a lie.

The 24-year-old was claimed to have angered Costa after he produced a hard tackle on the striker during a training session at the club's Cobham base.

A report suggested the challenge led to the pair having to be separated by their teammates, but Oscar has now firmly denied such a scenario ever occurred.

Writing on his official Twitter account on Thursday evening, Oscar said: "For those who are talking to me and @diegocosta struggle today in training he's lying, he's one of my best friends and never fight."

Both Oscar and Costa have seen their form improve under the new leadership of Guus Hiddink, with the pair having impressed since the Dutchman was appointed as Jose Mourinho's successor in December.

Chelsea now face Scunthorpe United in the FA Cup on Sunday as the struggling Premier League champions attempt to push on in the competition with their hopes of securing a place in the Champions League looking unlikely.
