Phil Neville has called for Marco Ianni, the coach who sparked wild scenes during Manchester United’s 2-2 draw with Chelsea, to be sacked by the London club.

Anthony Martial looked to have secured a rare victory at Stamford Bridge for his side on Saturday afternoon before Ross Barkley secured a point for the Blues with a 97th minute equaliser.

During the touchline celebrations, Ianni, a member of Maurizio Sarri’s backroom team, ran past the United bench and appeared to gesture towards Mourinho – who leapt out of his seat to try and chase the Chelsea man before being restrained by stewards.

Mourinho explained post-match he had accepted an apology from the Italian but former United defender Neville has called for further punishment.

Whoever that staff member is has just been an absolute disgrace. No class, no humility,” Neville said while on punditry duties with NBC Sports.

“He has gone straight into the face of Jose Mourinho, Michael Carrick and the Manchester United bench and just celebrated in their face. Absolutely disgraceful.

“He [Mourinho] is innocent in all this. The guy on the Chelsea bench has run straight past him, celebrated in his face.

“Sarri celebrates. Then it is this guy who goes in front of Jose Mourinho. The first one he clenches his fist and then as he goes back he celebrates again right in front of him. Disgraceful.

“If I was Maurizio Sarri I’d send that guy in and sack him from the club.”
