Arsenal fans have been looking anxiously for news over Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's future after contract talks stalled.

However, his latest 'deal' will not affect where he will be playing his football next season.

Rather, the Gunners star has agreed to race for McLaren in the next round of Formula One's Virtual Grand Prix series at the Monaco Grand Prix.

The Gabonese striker, who recently returned to restricted group training with his Arsenal team-mates following the coronavirus-enforced shutdown, will link-up with Lando Norris at a virtual representation of Monaco's famous street circuit.

Aubameyang becomes the latest footballer to join the grid, with Sergio Aguero, Thibaut Courtois, Alessio Romagnoli and Arthur Melo all appearing in the eSports series to date.

Other stars to have taken part include England cricketer Ben Stokes, golfer Ian Poulter and singer Liam Payne.

Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc has won two races from four starts, while Williams' George Russell triumphed last time out in the Virtual Spanish Grand Prix.

Red Bull's Alex Albon and Renault academy driver Gwanyu Zhou are the other drivers to have triumphed in the virtual series so far, with the podiums at every race dominated by real-life drivers.

The Virtual Monaco Grand Prix will be broadcast live from the Gfinity Esports Arena from 6pm BST on Sunday, May 24.
