Arsenal fans rivalled a 'Wenger Out' protest with a pro-Arsene Wenger plane in a battle of banners at the Hawthorns on Saturday.

Standard Sport revealed that Gunners supporters campaigning against manager Wenger went ahead with a planned aerial protest - which had initially been put on hold due to weather forecasts - because supporters feared reports of a second plane trailing a "Wenger In" banner.

Those fears proved to be correct as a second plane flew over the match soon after the initial protest with a message of support for the under-pressure manager: "In Arsene we trust #RespectAW".

The initiative raised its £2,500 target, with the money spent on billboards, balloons and beach balls as well as the £750 cost of hiring the plane.
