QPR are set to move for Lee Bowyer

Wanted man: Lee Bowyer
11 April 2012

Queens Park Rangers want to make controversial midfielder Lee Bowyer their first signing of the summer in the hope he can boost their chances of staying in the Premier League next season.

The 34-year-old has spent the past three years at Birmingham City but his deal expires at the end of the campaign and he has yet to agree a new one.

It is understood he has only been offered a one-year contract, while he wants two years. However, QPR are prepared to give him a deal until 2013 as they feel Bowyer's top‑flight experience will be valuable to the squad.

The former Leeds, Newcastle and West Ham midfielder has a fiery reputation and was given a three‑game ban in January after being found guilty of violent conduct following a clash with Arsenal's Bacary Sagna.

Rangers are also looking at Hull right-back Liam Rosenior, who also knows the League well having spent four seasons at Fulham.
