QPR striker Charlie Austin has confirmed he will stay at QPR ahead of the new season after late interest from Crystal Palace.

The Rangers striker has been linked with various Premier League clubs this summer but none were willing to match the west London club's £15million valuation.

Newcastle, Everton and Bournemouth were interested in doing a deal for the England international this summer but Palace maintained hope they could lure the forward until the final week of the window, when Austin turned down a move to Selhurst Park.

The 26-year-old has already scored four Championship goals this term and appeared to end speculation surrounding his immediate future on Monday, tweeting: "#QPR big season ahead."

The former Burnley striker is out of contract at QPR next summer and will have a greater range of options open to him.

But Rangers remain hopeful he will commit his long-term future to the club. QPR director of football Les Ferdinand told Standard Sport last month the club will draw up a new deal for Austin if he is still at the club when the transfer window shuts.
