QPR director of football Les Ferdinand insists he has no regrets over appointing Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink as manager.

Hasselbaink has failed to win any of his six matches in charge and QPR have dropped to 16th in the Championship, 11 points shy off the play-off positions.

The Dutchman joined last month following the sacking of Chris Ramsey, who is now the club’s technical director. But Ferdinand is convinced it was the right decision and believes promotion is still possible.

He told Standard Sport: “Obviously you hope any manager hits the ground running but we still feel we have the right man to take the club forward.

“Being 11 points off [the play-offs] doesn’t rule anything out because clubs have still gone runs to win promotion.

“There are still 21 games to go and a lot of points to play for. Barring Huddersfield [when they drew 1-1], everyone has been pleased with the way the team have approached matches since Jimmy arrived.”
