QPR head coach Chris Ramsey is keen to receive a firm offer from one of Charlie Austin’s suitors so that the club can plan for the season ahead.

Austin has attracted interest from several Premier League clubs, including West Ham, Tottenham and Newcastle. However the QPR coach has said that none of those sides have stepped forward with an offer for the striker, who is valued at £15 million.

Ramsey admitted his major concern was that he would not receive a bid for the 25-year-old until the “last minute”, leaving QPR without time to acquire an adequate replacement.

“If a club wants him and come in and make firm offers, and if the owners think it’s the right offer, then he’ll go,” said Ramsay.

“All we’re looking for is a firm offer to get this thing sorted one way or another.

“We haven’t had any firm offers for Charlie and as far as we’re concerned he’s a QPR player and will want to do his best to get his goalscoring tally up to where it was last year.”

However Ramsey admitted that he had considered the possibility of moving on without Austin, whose 18 goals last season were not enough to keep QPR from Premier League relegation.

“As we know, things can happen – usually at the last minute – and all clubs must look at players and think they might not still be there. But at the moment I can’t really see how things are going to pan out.”
