Ian Holloway wants QPR to prove people wrong in the Championship.

Rangers have been tipped to struggle next season but Holloway, whose side kick off the new campaign against Reading at Loftus Road on Saturday, said: “I have had seasons where I have been told I am not going to get 10 points, let alone 10 wins.

“It is down to us being proud of what we are doing and proving everybody wrong.

“We have got a long and gruelling season ahead of us that I cannot wait to get started.”

Holloway has also defended the lack of summer signings at Rangers. Josh Scowen has joined on a free transfer and fellow midfielder Charlie Owens has arrived from Tottenham.

Holloway said: “No one is to blame for that. I do not know why fans look at that. It is not about who you sign, it is about who we have already got.

“We will get ahead of the game eventually. Gary Penrice [the new recruitment consultant at Rangers] has only just come in.”
