QPR striker Charlie Austin happy to carry the load as Harry Redknapp admits interest in West Ham's Carlton Cole

Standard Sport2 January 2014

Harry Redknapp wants to sign a striker to ease the pressure on Charlie Austin but the player is happy to shoulder the goalscoring burden at Queens Park Rangers.

Austin (above) scored an injury-time winner against Doncaster yesterday — his 12th goal since moving to Loftus Road in August.

He said: “I understand it when people talk about pressure being on my shoulders but scoring is my job. There’s no more pressure on me than there is on anybody else. I’m here to score and, thankfully, I’ve managed to get my fair share.”

Redknapp admits he is interested in West Ham’s Carlton Cole.

The QPR boss said: “He is a good player and one we are looking at. We want a proven goalscorer.”
