Ralf Rangnick hailed Anthony Martial as “one the best strikers in the Premier League” after the forward helped Manchester United beat West Ham at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.

Brought on as a second-half substitute, the Frenchman played a part in Marcus Rashford’s late winner on what could prove a pivotal day come day the end of the season, a week after Rangnick claimed Martial had refused to travel with the squad for their draw away at Aston Villa.

Marital has since refuted those claims but is understood to want to leave the club this month after falling down the pecking order.

Speaking to reporters after the game, Rangnick said: “He’s a top player, one of the best strikers in the Premier League but we have other players in his position and it is his wish to leave but, as I said to him, it always takes different parts to find an agreement.

“The way he trained and played when he came on today showed his professionalism I expect from everybody.”
