Ray Wilkins has warned Chelsea's players they have won nothing yet and must not let their standards drop for the rest of the season.
Chelsea are hot favourites to win the Premier League title following their 3-0 victory over Arsenal on Sunday, which has handed them a lead of five and 11 points over Manchester United and Arsene Wenger's side respectively.
They have already qualified for the knock-out phase in the Champions League as winners of Group D and play Blackburn in the quarter-finals of the Carling Cup tomorrow night.
Wilkins, who is the assistant first-team coach under boss Carlo Ancelotti, insists it's vital the team don't get carried away by their good start to the campaign and believes they still have a lot of work to do to win the title.
He said: "It's very early to talk about us winning the League. We still have over 20 games to play. We have to maintain this level of consistency right the way through the season. We just have to keep working as hard."
Wilkins says Ancelotti's chances of winning the title in his debut season will be improved if Chelsea can claim the Carling Cup first.
Former Blues manager Jose Mourinho guided the team to the trophy in 2005 before taking them to successive championships.
Wilkins added: "It's important to get that first one under your belt and we would love to be in the Carling Cup Final."
