One of Chelsea's most highly-rated young stars Charly Musonda has expressed his desire to stay at Real Betis past the summer over fears of not being able to break into the Blues' first team should he return to London.

The 19-year-old sealed a loan move to the Spanish club in January as a host of Premier League clubs sought to prise the midfielder away from Chelsea despite Musonda having signed a new four-year deal last year.

Musonda has gone on to impress at Betis, and has now admitted he believes it would be more beneficial for him to stay in La Liga and play regularly than return to Chelsea and turn out for the reserve side.

"I want to stay at Betis. It’s in my head now, but next year I don’t know what will happen," Musonda, who hasn't yet made his senior debut for Chelsea, told Canal Sur.

"I’m happy here, the Béticos want me. You never know about the future, but it’s possible that I can stay. It’s better to play here than in Chelsea’s second team.

"My favourite clubs are from here, from Spain. Since I was young I liked Barcelona and Real Madrid. I learned Spanish so I could come here. I play for Betis and I am happy."
