Bakary Sako has been backed to build on his dream Crystal Palace debut.

Sako scored an 87th minute winner as Palace beat Aston Villa 2-1 on Saturday and Scott Dann believes the winger, who joined on a free transfer in the summer, will be a hit in the Premier League.

“He has got a great left foot and if he can get in those positions more often then he is going to score some goals,” said Dann.

“In training he has looked really good and he has got a hell of a strike on him. It was a great finish and we are delighted for him to get off the mark. He is going to be dangerous. We have got some really talented players here who can scare teams.”

The victory at Selhurst Park means Alan Pardew is now Palace’s most successful manager in the Premier League, with 12 wins. On Saturday, Palace travel to Chelsea, where they are likely to be without Connor Wickham because of a rib injury.

Glenn Murray continues to be linked with Bournemouth but Pardew says he is “quite happy” with the forward. “He does a great job for us,” said the Palace manager. “It was not his day on Saturday but Glenn will always score goals.”
