Serge Aurier deal signals Tottenham clear-out before transfer window closes

Serge Aurier has completed his protracted transfer to Tottenham Hotspur as the club shifts attention to moving on fringe players before the window closes.

Aurier signed a five-year contract after Spurs agreed a £23million deal with Paris Saint-Germain and he becomes their fourth signing, after defenders Davinson Sanchez and Juan Foyth and goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga.

Aurier’s move could coincide with Vincent Janssen, Moussa Sissoko and Georges-Kevin Nkoudou leaving the club, even though Sissoko said recently that he would be staying beyond the end of the window.

Marseille have a long-standing interest in Sissoko and sold Nkoudou to Tottenham only last summer, while Janssen’s future is dependent on whether Spurs can sign another forward. They registered interest in Fernando Llorente late yesterday, and are battling with Chelsea to sign the Spain forward, after having a bid in the region of £14m accepted by Swansea.

Janssen has interest from both West Bromwich Albion and Stoke, with both clubs prepared to pay in excess of £20m for the Holland international. Like Kevin Wimmer, who joined Stoke for £18m earlier this week, Janssen was offered to a number of clubs this summer. West Brom want a striker before the window closes and Janssen is high on their list.
