West Ham fans' fury over the Dimitri Payet saga was apparent again as the star jetted out ahead of a proposed £25million move back to France.

Payet went on strike earlier this month in a bid to force through a return to his former club Marseille and made himself unavailable for the home fixture against Crystal Palace.

Payet has not played for West Ham since and fans have vocalised their anger from the stands, while vice-chairman Karren Brady conceded the star would move on 'probably sooner rather than later' despite the club initially stating he was not for sale.

The Hammers have pulled clear of the relegation zone with successive Premier League wins in Payet's absence, but it hasn't stopped supporters turning on the man they voted player of the year last season.

Payet also picked up the Players' Player of the Year and Goal of the Season award after a stellar first campaign in east London following a £10million move from Marseille.

He signed a new £125,000-a-week deal last February and was reportedly given a £1million loyalty bonus in September after starring for France at Euro 2016.

After Tweeting an image of a private jet due to 'take him home', Payet recevied a wave of abuse.
