Steve Coppell eyes top flight after joining Bristol City

Steve Coppell set his sights on guiding Bristol City into the Premier League after being appointed their new manager today.

The 54-year-old former Crystal Palace boss, out of work since resigning from his post at Reading last summer, has signed a 12-month rolling contract.

Coppell replaces Gary Johnson, who left the Championship club in March after five years in charge.

He said: "This is a club that want to go forward and want to be in the top division. It's my opportunity to take this club there and that is our challenge."
