Former West Ham assistant manager Stuart Pearce has revealed he did not meet co-owner David Sullivan or vice-chairman Karren Brady at all during his time on David Moyes’ coaching staff.
Pearce was appointed to assist Moyes in early November after the departure of Slaven Bilic but left the club last month when West Ham opted to appoint Manuel Pellegrini as their new manager.
Pearce, who spent two seasons at Upton Park between 1999 and 2001, and Moyes departed the club having achieved their task of keeping West Ham in the Premier League - they finished 13th having been in the relegation zone when Bilic was sacked.
Former England international Pearce was full of praise for a “wonderful club” but expressed his surprise that two of the three most senior people at the London Stadium had not got to know him after he was appointed.
“I never met Mr. Sullivan or Karren Brady in the seven months I was there,” Pearce said on Talksport. “I never met them once.
“If I owned a football club, or ran any organisation, I’d make it my business to welcome new faces into the football club. The working environment is the training ground.
“Unless they decided Mr. Gold is going to be the face of the board, and he’s going to be the one to come in - and to be fair, he’s very, very personable, and he used to come to every game and pop into the dressing room after games.
“I can’t speak for David [Moyes]… he had links with all three.
“But from a personal view I never met two of the three in the seven months I was there.”
